Through a series of mergers and acquisitions, Miyachi Unitek Welder has absorbed the resistance welding and reflow soldering technologies originally developed by Hughes Industrial Electronics Group in Carlsbad, California. In addition, Miyachi Unitek has acquired the technologies of Toddco Inc and Microjoin Inc, making Unitek the largest supplier of both reflow soldering & micro resistance welding equipment. The Miyachi Unitek Welder is not without quality competitors in this field. Macgregor Systems , Sunstone Engineering , as well as Nippon Avionics Co., Ltd otherwise known as Avio all produce fine micro joining equipment.  

Many customers feel that once they acquire the welding/soldering equipment, they must continue to source hot bars from the original equipment supplier. AIT manufactures our own versions of the Unitip and Unibond tool designs as well as the 17TD three dimensional thermode, the 17F Multiple Lead Fold-up Thermode, the 17BW Multiple Lead Wide Blade Thermode, the 17B Multiple Lead Blade Thermode, and the 17P Single Point Peg Tip Thermode. Many of these designs were originally refined by Advanced Integrated Technologies Inc.
