AIT SLD-2 Reflow Soldering Thermode

The SLD-2 is a 2% thoriated tungsten tipped thermode, attached to a copper shank. This design uses an adhesive insulator which is a much more economical than using fasteners in the shank. Understanding AIT part numbers is very simple. Various dimensions on the drawing are represented by letters, which correspond to values in the part number. The beginning of the part number establishes the thermode series and material, followed by various dimensions. For example, part number SLD-2-W-A.010B.020L1.0-E9-S is a 2% thoriated tungsten tip with an A diameter of .010, an E type thermocouple 9” long, and a small plug.
